I see a few Pantera rednecks. But not much. I agree that most Pantera fans though are either
A. metal fan
or
B. someone who isn't really much into metal much

I hated them before he died, so w/e to all of that above. When I was around 13 I heard everything up to the newest one which was 'Trendkill' and I grew very much out of it as soon as I discovered more music on the Internet. There is nothing I really like or relate to in their music whatsoever, maybe something like 'Floods' if I was pressed to name something but as a whole they are just banal.

I got into them when Cowboys From Hell came out after hearing Primal Concrete Sledge on the radio. I ended up swapping that album for Symphonies of Sickness because the rest of the album pretty much sucked. I thought Vulgar Display and Far Beyond Driven were great albums when they came out, but they had a sound that got old pretty fast.

Pantera really is one of those "gateway" metal bands. If you never move deeper into metal you are going to find them [brutal] forever. If you do move deeper into metal they do get dull and boring on the whole.

As long as you like Pantera's riffs you should be a fan for life. So what if they're not the most brutal band, they made very good riffs and solos and that's what makes music.

they are THE reason i got into metal and i still listen to Pantera to this day (not often tbh but i still do)
I actually do think they're terrible, and every single person that I've ever seen with a Pantera shirt is a total redneck. They definitely aren't the worst band I've ever heard, but I can't see any redeeming qualities in their music.

@ Omni, i think it really depends on how long you've been listening to metal to begin with. For a person that just recently got into metal and strictly likes brutaldeath/BM they will probably dismiss Pantera because they are not heavy enough etc. But calling them terrible is ridiculous considering Cowboys From Hell is one of the best Thrash(yes with groove elements) albums of all time.

They definitely aren't the most technically proficient band or aynthing, but they have a lot of emotion to their music IMO. Listening to something like Vulgar Display of Power, just makes me want to fucking headbang.

What do you know? My opinion is different than yours? Unheard of! You think it's one of the best albums ever, I don't. Opinions are cool. Me having an opinion that differs from yours does not make my opinion ridiculous.

I've never seen you before, so not really.
I'm just glad that for once you didn't attack me and try to call me a troll for posting about not liking a band that you like, since you post about not liking bands all the time. But unlike you, I actually explain why I don't like bands instead of just saying they suck.
