Pantera's forgotten queer past

I think the best thing to do would be to ignore the ignorant dumbass that loves dimebag. i love pantera but dime wasn't a guitar god by any means. dime just made simple ass thumping riffs.

Seriously what is guitar playing to you guys? Technique doesnt always equal interesting playing. Dimebag is a fucking hell of alot more interesting than Steve Vai. Vai's technique and flawless playing makes shred wank enthusiasts go wow, but he cant write a decent riff/song or memorable solo. Dimebag wrote killer riffs and memorable solos and had a unique style.

I agree one hundred percent that talented musicianship does not equal good music (though what it really comes down to is opinion). I choose Burzum over Dragonforce anyday.

post yourself playing, i would really like to hear you play better than dime, and i think dimebag in some areas of playing guitar would kick steve vai's ass, while maybe in some areas, steve vai is better, but overall, i think dimebag's better than steve vai, i can't say that you are not better than dime because i have not yet heard you, but i seriously doubt you are better than him, so go ahead, please post yourself playing at your best

Aww, it's so cute when you get mad. :)

Can you please tell me where I said I was better than him? I don't even play guitar. I just really don't think he deserves the "God" status. There are much better guitarists than him, who don't get half the credit just cause they haven't been blown away.

Im going to actually admit that dimebag is a fucken riff master. Cowboys from hell, forget about it. That song is badass.

But to say he can solo anywhere near as good as yngwie, vai, or gilbert is a joke.

your saying that attitude song isn't a memorable riff?

Van Halen anyone?

sounds good to me :headbang:

sad he died but he was wayyy over rated as a guitar player. i swear, these other musicians like zack wilde and kerry king who claim dime was the best guitar player apparently dont listen to much. there are loads of players better than dime today and were back in pantera's prime.

RIP dimebag.

anyone who is inspiration enough to cause internet arguements and comparisions to the greats, is a god, imho.

^Nirvana was way overrated but Kurt Cobain did right some good songs.
Dimebag was probably the best groove metal guitarist ever but that isn't saying a lot.

at the moment Kurt died, everybody in the world was thinking

Pearl Jam is way way better than Nirvanna
and
Smashing Pumkins are way way better than Nirvanna

but then somebody discovers Kurt's body and all of a sudden he's god
same as dimebag darrell

I like the argument about Dime vs. Vai. It was entertaining to read.
Vai is in another league. He is about a gazillion times more technically proficient but Dimebag has his strong points too. He was very good at coming up with catchy metal riffs, he had a very different soloing style, and he seemed to have a pretty cool attitude from what I've seen of him.
When it comes to feeling, I must say Vai takes the prize here. He talks with his guitar.

Vai has more feeling, but Dime was unique in his sound and style. Having played both guitarist's music, I think that it's harder to play Dime's music the way he does than it is to play Vai's music the way he does. Feeling may sound interesting, but I think the best guitarists can blend feeling, and technicality.

Don't get mad War Blade, it's only a forum, I'm only giving my opinion.
