Paradise lost cd packaging

i thought the front and back art would be connected and unfolded to reveal this marvelous panorama. i don't see that in the packaging.

I don't think this is the version with the DVD. As mentioned before, I think what's behind the disc is just art. Besides, it's a bad idea to stack two discs like that, and when it is done, I hate it. The top disc can actually get scratched from the one underneath, which suffice to say would be nothing short of an immense tragedy in this situation.

I'd be pretty pissed if they gave us this fancy case, and the actual functional use of it failed in that regard. Better off doing a regular dual CD jewel case.

That looks fucking awesome. And the packaging DOES matter... yeah, music is the most important thing, but it's all inclusive to me. The people who don't think the packaging matters are the assholes who are going to make sure record companies go all digital with releases and there will be no more physical product. Fuck that.

packaging does matter, just not to me! haha...

but honestly, as long as i have a CD I'm happy. That being said, I'm not one of those people who thinks it should all go digital.

+1! As a graphic designer I can say the packaging is part of what makes getting a CD (or any product) an experience. If everything one found in a store or online came in a white box with nothing but a label, a person would get annoyed pretty quickly. And yes, the packaging kicks ass.

Perfect illustration (no pun intended) of the point. Cheers :kickass:

again, for some people yes, I guess that would happen. And even I love cool cover art, and i love the cover art of the new album. But the funky fold out shit and everything? yeah its interesting... for a few seconds... i'm not gonna grab the cd case everytime i listen to the album and start folding/unfolding the thing for the entire hour or more that the cd runs for.

I have to admit though, there was a time when I was more interested in packaging I guess. I used to play a lot of computer games when I was a teenager, and for the longest time I kept all those big ol boxes they used to have. They were on the shelf of my closet for a long time, but eventually I realized... they were just taking up space. So i broke them all down, and tossed em in the recycling, and I think this is the first time I've thought about them since then. Don't miss em... they weren't doing anything for me.

Interesting point, I see what you mean. I kinda got into doing the same thing when I started driving and that was just before the CD burning revolution here in Australia. Took all my CD's out of the jewel cases, digipaks and got one of those big CD wallets things. For a while I had the booklets in the sleeve opposite the disc but as the collection grew, the booklets had to make way for the discs. The art printed on the actual disc then became more of a focal point.

One of the things that draws my attention most in packaging are candid and informal photo collages of the band members etc.

u have a good point with that, but again, you can have a normal cd booklet without all the crazy fold out packaging. you can even get rid of the case and just keep the booklet in the same big cd book with the disc.

So is this the final cover art? I noticed the font change and the longer hair.
