Paradise Lost Sales figures?

All i'm going to say to proulxski is that americans can generally form a coherent sentence with decent spelling. Most of the french canadians on this board (minus mr fast) basically have spelling and grammar at the kindergarten level. And i know you probably speak french, but you're surrounded by goddamned english speaking territories... you'd think you would pick up something by osmosis.

Shit, even Lasse (who's full blooded finnish) has better grammar than you and gargamel. Seriously.

Haha...

He can speak french... how many languages can you speak? Provinces are a lot larger than states. Having english speaking provinces around you wouldn't provide much help... but by your logic, you should be able to speak spanish because your country (and possibly your state) is touching Mexico. You also said that you think Proulxski would've picked up something by now... well, he IS speaking english on here. I believe that counts as something.

Guys, you gotta realize that English is the "second" language in Quebec...More than 90% of the population is French-speaking. How good is "your" 2nd language? When I travel in the USA, I always think that my level of English is a lot better than the level of French of most Americans...

I know that it's more important for us to learn English cause it's a lot more spoken than French, but anyway...It's a damn fact though that lots of people in Quebec have no clue about the English language and that is very sad...The school system is to blame...

Well, if we're pointing fingers at education systems for language issues...then trust me the US isn't any better off than you guys. Many school districts here still don't require foreign languages. I graduated from High School last year and I was only required to have 2 years of a foreign language. I opted for Spanish just because it seemed to be the easiest and in all honesty I don't remember a whole lot of what I learned. It's not that intensive of a program for those who only strive to meet the minimum requirements. I was one of those people mostly because I had so much other stuff on my plate, but also because I didn't have much interest in learning a foreign language.
However, I guess a lot of schools (elementary schools and even kindergarden) are starting to put more emphasis on teaching spanish to kids at a younger age. I have cousins in grade school who've already learned as much spanish if not more than I had by the time I was a junior in high school. On one hand I think it's cool because it's helping kids to be a little more cultured and open minded by the time they get older. On the other hand, I think it's kind of sad that our society HAS to start teaching our kids spanish just so they can interact more easily with all the migrant workers who come to this country unable to speak the native language. Oh well....maybe that makes me a close-minded biggot but meh *shrugs shoulders*

well Zach....as long as we're assaulting Canada anyway. Have you ever been to canada, eaten french fries, and had ketchup with them? Canadian ketchup tastes absolutely horrible.

Canadian ketchup FTL

it does

I dunno if this is the ACTUAL reason, but someone up there told me it's that ketchup in Canada has vinegar in it as a preservative whereas in the states it's corn syrup. Don't know if that's the case......but ketchup definitely does taste different.
