I don't have a drumkit at the moment. And I think if I could choose any room to put one in and play for hours..days..weeks, it would look something like this.

Scrap "appealing".. I think what that scene is, is inspiring.

I had a similar revelation when I was tracking guitars for my CD (ugh, it's not even worth plugging anymore, sounds so bad). I had a few sheets of auralex around just sitting against a wall, and I don't remember if it was intentional or not, but I moved one directly accross from my guitar cab (which was just a mesa 2x12" at the time) and BAM my guitar sound got MUCH cleaner, and I thought about it for a minute and realized it was 'cause it was getting rid of those close reflections that were muddying up the sound. Not a huge room so maybe 7 or 8 feet max between that cab and the wall. So it's like anything recorded in the last few weeks of my CD (the sound of which I'm largely chocking up to a learning experience) has a much clearer guitar sound than anything done before I moved that sheet of foam (1" Wedge I think this one is) 4 feet to the right.

Funny how stuff like that can make such a huge difference.
