Has Opeth been allowing photography at their shows on the current tour? Just wondering since I'm a photographer and I'm going to see them next month.

Thanks -

As a photographer you should know it's more up to the venue than anything. I'm unaware of the band having some kind of aversion to having their soul stolen by the little magic box.

My experience has been the opposite; it is almost always up to the artist whether or not photography is allowed. For example, I saw "Prog Nation" in Tampa...for the first two bands, no photography was allowed...for the last two (Opeth and Dream Theater) it was OK. The venue had no opinion about it - but the security guards knew which bands had OK'd photography and which had said "no".

I know some venues have their own policies, but it my experience it's more often up to the artist.

As far as next month's upcoming Opeth show, I already contacted the venue, they said it's up to the bands and they won't know until the day of the show. So I'm interested in hearing from people who've actually seen Opeth recently and can say whether or not the band allowed photography at those shows.

its up to the venue for most of the time. i dont see why opeth would care if there was photography going on at shows.

MarkT which show you going to? The Orlando show or the FT Lauderdale show? I think its FL Lauderdale that is the venue is revolution 9 I think. Im going to that show with my entire band. We are all very psyched.

in mass they werent allowing any photos. but the web site returnofthepit.com had alot of pics, so maybe just talk to the venue before and set somthing up ^^

The only time I have heard of an "anti-photo rule" is Neurosis - Scott Kelly seems to do alot of stupid stuff like that - pls note I think Neurosis are awesome

That's the first time I've seen that at the Palladium. Usually they let you take as many as you want, but this time they wouldn't even let you take a cell phone photo. RTTP is always at the Palladium taking pics.
The most anal I've ever seen is at the 2 Porcupine Tree shows I went to. At the last one I saw secruity take a guy's camera.
