The Mantis in Asia can reach 12" long.

I'd need a bigger shoe. :loco: I saw a special on the gnarly Japanese hornets that are like 2" long! Those would creep me out.

The Mantis likes humans for some reason, I was working at a large grassy area and they were everywhere, 3-5" long, I had dozens of them on me and they ate all the other bugs that bothered me, they're kinda like fighter escorts
A lot of gardeners buy them by the case to eat bugs that are dangerous to crops. They're my favotite bug :)

Oh dear god. I HATE mantises.

Anything that has more than 4 legs or more than 2 eyes is a no go for me. I am so pleased you do not get them over here.

:ill: It's grasshoppers that do that for me:zombie:  o_O Blegh!! They're like little tiny prehistoric looking things......Ewwwww!!! I have a few photos of a locust in Korea to post once I go through the lot of pics from the trip. Time to get a photobucket account eh? Those suckers were LOUD!!!!

That mantis was a little cutey especially compared to the mosquitos. Japan had "tiger" mosquitos - they were pretty fierce and for some reason they just loved to snack on me!!! Ouch! :zombie:

Jenna, tell me something... Do Scots ever tire of being surrounded by thistles? Don't get me wrong, there are thistles on my kilt socks and on the brooch for my great kilt. I'm not against thistles by any means but I'm not bloody swamped by them daily. So I was pondering and thought I'd ask.

We're hardly engulfed by them, you do get the occasional one but it's not like our gardens are full of them!! :D Trust us to have a weed as our national flower!!! o_O

I really meant pictures of them... Some graphic representation is in most every picture one sees of Scotland. Particularly the tourist stuff (which is the vast majority of what we see over here). I brought it up because of the pics of your sis at the ceremony with her standing in front of the police logo.

It's mostly used in logos but not all that often really. It's on the Scotland rugby strip but I can't really think of anything else which has the logo. I'd never even noticed the police logo!!! It's just the tourist thing tho isn't. If you go to Ireland you don't see four leaf clovers everywhere, but the touristy stuff is full of it.
