This is all automatic, delete the bit you don't want, click 'content aware fill' and it does this in like 30 seconds. Not perfect but pretty fucking incredible. Probably gonna cost quite a few people their jobs..

That amazing.

cs5 is really sick at some points, my design prof just had a show from some
adobe guys and he said he felt like he was at a magic show in las vegas...

I find it amusing that when Toontrack releases an "EZ-Mix" plugin everyone bawls their eyes out, and then when we get "EZ-Shoop" there's nothing but praise.

As has been stated, a lot of people will probably lose their livelihoods over this in a similar way the AE business has gone.

Still, it is impressive on a technical level. :)

I see some small artifacts, but its still amazing for such a simple tool.. and it sure as hell will decrease the amount of time that it takes to retouch images.

Not even comparable.
This is more like having a tool that allows you to select an area where the sound is clipping, and reconstruct it so you get a clean signal again.

I suppose you're right,

But i can't help but feel that this kind of "instant fix" will take all the skill out of photo manipulation, and lead to an even greater "race to the bottom" in the business.

Maybe im wrong, :goggly:

That's a direct analogy, but reconstructing images IS part of a graphic designers job. Eliminating clipping is not really part of our job.

And yeah, this doesn't go all the way, but neither do presets. While this is impressive, and could be useful for sure, I don't think its necessarily a good thing (especially if this goes further, with more similar tools). But, who gives a fuck what I think, Adobe can make a ton of money from this, and a ton of people will pirate it and use the feature for their own needs regardless of what I think.

I´m not sure, but i don´t think a graphic designer´s job is ever just to delete the statue of liberty from a picture, I think it goes way beyond that, that would just be like a quick shortcut through the mechanical stuff so you can get right to the creative process that goes after (or before). Ezmix is more like turning the creative process into a mechanical one

I see your point, but isn't that kind of stuff the "bread and butter" work for a lot of people?

it's taking what was previously a task requiring some skills and making it a compete no-brainer operation.

Well, as i said before, this tool creates artifacts.. to get rid of those artifacts you need to know the same old skills to recreate those areas.
Personally im glad that i wont have to sit for 6 hours straight removing a lens-flare, or spend days redrawing areas of destroyed photographs.
This tool will never replace the old skills, but it will cut down the amount of time it takes to fix stuff like that drastically.
