Great story! I didn't know the rest of the band visits the forum too.
To keep the signature on your guitar, you should buy some clear coat and shoot a coat over it, then buff it to a shine. Some coats dissolve marker ink though, I'd try it out on another surface first to make sure that doesn't happen.

Some clearcoat sprays also dissolve the original paint of the guitar. It all comes down to compatibility...

The signature is written with a White Sharpie. It's the exact same as the white one there.
