Pickup straight to Output, no pots.

won't make any difference with EMGs, but does indeed make a difference with passives.
I sometimes solder in a mini-toggle to bypass the pot

The mini-toggle either directs the pickup to the pot of the output? Am I correct? Do you have a schematic for this? It sounds like a really good idea!

I think Lasse means that the toggle will kill the volume. Actually not a bad idea, I never turn my volume knob down for any reason except for cleans (very rare) but I have Strats for that anyway...

Exactly! I'm putting a killswitch in soon. I thought of doing this when I was recording a guitarist and he was constantly turning his volume off out of habit, then forgetting to turn it back on when the click count-in start.

its quite common that players touch the vol pot as kind of "security blanket". I know i do it a bit. Like sometimes when playing long open chords etc so your right hand is free. i do a keep unconscious check that the vol knob is still on full. Video your self playing..thats when i realised
