I don't find this settings so absurd.

At least for recording a 2nd guitar.

Which Krank model was it? Revolution or... uhm.. the 'stein?

That might make a difference if its one or the other, right?

That pic is the Rev, and yes it will make some difference.

through 2 4 by 12 Krank speakers a couple of weeks ago and I think that it was by far the worst sounding amp I've played ever. Just couldn't get a descent sound from it, everything soundet real fizzy without the mid punch that I get from my ENGL.

the eminence in the krank cabs are fizzy compared to V30's, which according to the guitar world article, amott replace the eminence with.
