Wrong on both counts.

Pretty arguably not. I say that because the difference between eating a dog and a cow is based purely on how we socially percieve them, the actual real difference being arbitrary.

Also, do you really believe democracy enables freedom in the true sense?

I'd also like to say: I think you're a cool guy, but you cannot just dismiss EVERY damn argument with - I'm older, more experienced and ergo totally right. It's unfair.

I think that you're a cool guy, too. But life itself is unfair. :)

I use my "trump card" because I'm too lazy to type a detailed explanation of my views. I'm planning a trip to my old hangout in High Wycombe (no, I don't know any Paki terrorists) next spring. Maybe we can discuss why I'm always right over a few beers. :goggly:

Retarded Penguin, no we don't. Scotland has a HUGE amount of green country side, most of it beautiful. However the concentrations of people are in and around the large Urban areas in the central belt, such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Dundee. There's an old saying that the Scottish country side is so beautiful, it's a shame nobody lives there! :p

Is it possible to live there? To just go there with some wood, glass, and rocks?

Oh yes, the wilderness does have folks living there, quite alot, just not as many as the wild open space dictates. I lived on the Isle of Arran for six months as a kid, no tv, internet - nothing. It's beautiful.

really... so the land is not... government owned..?

So I could start fullscale construction on a random plot of land in the country side?

Well, much of the land will belong to someone, but most of it is not government owned, per se, no. Depending on what you had in mind, you could, yup.

I had a castle in mind. And I was very interested in Scotland/Ireland. I plan on travelling there sometime. Next summer maybe, even! (torn between the aforementioned, USA, Edmonton, and Japaaaaaaaaaaaan)

EDIT: OH, Germany and some neighbouring countries, too

Well, with enough money you can buy a castle.

But were you to wish to build one, you'd probably get no hassle, if you picked the right place.

I love it here, so I recommend everyone to visit. Japan is wonderful too, though.

This is very interesting to know.

To my knowledge, in Canada, everything is owned.

But hey, have you ever visited Castles in Scotland? They are there, right? For some reason I imagine great big wonderful Scottish castles! EVERYWHERE.

They do exist, yup. Edinburgh Castle and the city itself is one of the most beautiful in the world. I've been all over my beautiful country visiting castles!

I dont know this chick but it shows how the castle is on a huge cliff right in the city centre:
