Pod Farm vs Gearbox

Gearbox is the same sort of reamping plugin as pod farm
It just doesn't look as good
haha
As far as I know, Pod Farm is basically the new Gearbox
but I'm not sure if there is a noticeable difference in sound quality between the two
I love having the option to change the amp settings or the entire amp post tracking though!
It makes things sooooo much easier
lo

I have no experience with Line 6 stuff, don't own any hardware or so but I thought Gearbox was the cheap version while Pod Farm is like all Pod hardwares combined into a software package? I heard Pod Farm has the same sounds and stuff which you can get in POD XT and whatever people use these days. Sounds like a pretty cool investment if that's the case, but I wonder how much it costs.

I have been debating the value of getting POD Farm for recording.
I currently have an POD XT Live and Gearbox.
Let me see if I have this right:
I know that POD Farm is a version up of GearBox with a better interface.
What would POD Farm get me that I don't already have?
Thanks in advance for the n00b question.

Nothing except the capability of blending 2 amps.

Hate to be pedantic, but Gearbox nor POD Farm are interfaces.
The POD XT Live would be the interface in this situation. A recording interface is a physical piece of *hardware*, not software on a computer.
That said, yes the dual tone thing sounds much better IMO.
If you want to play live with a POD, it's worth upgrading to the X3 Live. After hearing the dual tone feature, I cannot go back to the older PODs, it really beefs up your rhythm tone for practicing outside of a computer, rehearsing or playing live or whatever.
