POD Impulse

hey guys
quick question
when you track guitars with pod in order to use Impulses do you use only the POD's tube preamp without any cab simulation or you use a full sound from the pod and then use impulses?

i tried the first but it sounds like crap!
couldn't get much help from "search"

no cabsim on, that's what the impulses are for.

sorry for the stupid question but it sounds very very bad using the tube preamp and any impulse!
i must be doing something else wrong

just to let you know......the pod in no way has a tube preamp.

I think he means the "tube pre-amp" patch on the pod, which is not the best choice for guitars (according to the Podxt manual, it's there to run recorded tracks through to "warm them up" or some such nonsense)

yeap that what i mean...anyway i may have used a not so good impulse - i ll try again

oh and my pod is custom made - it has tubes :Smokin: really made by "line 666"

Haha, that would be pretty killer - however, I think you'd be better off trying the actual guitar amp patches for a good tone, rather than the "tube pre-amp" patch (unless a slightly fuzzy DI tone is what you're after).

thanks man! i just tried an amp from POD - the criminal model + Guitarhacks Imps - sounds much better - a bit too boomy and muddy though, needs some tweaking
