Yo guys, just finished this.

Drums are Steven Slate mixed with an Andy Sneap kick sample.
Guitars were done with a PRS custom 24 through a POD XT Pro.
Bass was faked through one of Logic's VSTs.
All put together using a very primative Logic 5.5

Think it came out sounding pretty cool!

This actually came out pretty good man. Makes me want to pickup my Red version again lol. One thing I would change is get that bass more distorted or something. It's pretty plain as is right now.

The amps on the POD XT Pro are ms-criminal for rhythm and L6 Modern high gain for leads. But I've been fine-tuning the tones for years. Would still kill for an upgrade to an axe fx though...it's about time.

I'll look into dirtying up the bass a bit more, or maybe next time I'll be less lazy and actually play the bass myself.

This is fucking badass. Being the nerd I am, I would pay for a full album of this shit.

Mix sounds great, but can we get a higher quality version? Either the mix needs some brightening in the really high frequencies or its just YouTube compression at work, I'm not sure.
I love the kick and snare - what snare did you use? I'm not a huge fan of the toms, they stick out oddly.. like Slate toms >.> Guitars are awesome for POD.

Youtube definitely screws up the mix but there are obviously things people could suggest to make the mix of the original mp3 better and I'm open to hearing them! I think so far people have commented on it not being bottom-heavy enough and lacking generally in the low-end. Although, this was put to me from a video game cover forum so I'm not entirely sure how justified this is. One person quoted that they don't think the mix is "bassy" enough for metal.
Perhaps the toms do stick out a little but I was actually pretty happy with their sound and was aiming for a big boomy tom sound (perhaps a little too big on this occassion...) The snare was the "Never Snare" from Slate (mixed a little differently)

Here's the MP3 I've uploaded to Soundcloud so you can have clearer listen to the mix:
