It's not Portnoy's fault he was asked to tour with A7X. The Rev just... y'know... up and fucking died. Portnoy was asked to do a favor for the band. The fact that Dream Theater basically told him to fuck off, basically threw him away like a used condom, is utterly classless, and shows not only a disrespect to their bandmate, who slaved over Dream Theater for 25 years, but to The Rev, which is as disgusting/revolting.

He even agreed to take part in the recording of the 2011 album, originally against his wishes. I'm no fan of either band, in fact I think Dream Theater are pretentious trash... but I never would've guessed, until I read about the split, that DT were filled with untermensch scum.
Anybody who can honestly say that Portnoy is the one with ego issues, or that Portnoy was in the wrong, has trouble grasping the big picture, and is just... wrong.

The girlfriend decides her boyfriend is not quite good enough for her despite the fact that she pretty much controls every aspect of said boyfriend's life. So, she finds another boyfriend and kind of puts the old one to the side. But, the new boyfriend is not into her as much as she thought he was and dumps her. I am not a Portnoy or a DT hater, just the opposite, as a matter of fact.... I think the post quoted above sums things up nicely. Portnoy bet all his marbles on A7X, he was so cock sure, that he even seemed to not mind the rest of DT moving forward without him. The A7X guys say "we don't need the drama" + "you're old enough to be our dad" and MP EXPECTS to be taken back into the loving arms of DT, but as we know that didn't happen. So yeah, I'm glad DT told him to fuck off. Had they taken him back, they would, IMHFO, look like douchebags... I'm looking forward to the next DT release more now, knowing there's a new guy in the band, than I would have with the normal line up. Fanbois are fucking hysterical, I haven't seen this much drama since Timo Tolkki had the fake "assault" and then Kat announced as the new singer.

I can't figure out why non-fans could even be bothered to care. I'm a fan and I don't even care. DT'll find somebody good and try something new. If it sucks, oh well, both parties will probably get back together in a few years anyways.
As for Portnoy, he's one of the best metal drummers there are. I'm sure he'll land on his feet just fine, and the rest of DT can write an album (with their sanity and face in tact).

A relationship with a woman, is not the same thing as a band. If you slave over a band for 25+ years, you deserve a break every once and awhile, without having to worry about your band throwing you away like a used fucking condom. If you're seriously trying to tell me that there is such thing as "loyalty to one band and one band only" bullshit, after devoting 25+ years of loyalty to a band, then I honestly hope you never join one. Either that, or better yet; go join Metallica and their band of egotistical "NO SIDE PROJECTS WOOOARRRGH PISS OFF JASON NEWSTED" twats. I'm sure you'll fit right in.
