They typically refer to themselves as the "Tea Party", which they consider to be a way of aligning themselves with the early Americans involved in the Boston Tea Party at the beginning of our Revolution. By using a play on words to twist it and refer to them as "Teabaggers", it suggests that we might not view their actions quite the way they do. And, no, I would suspect that the majority of Americans do not know the difference between Socialism and Comunism. That said, given how many of us there are, even a minority has the potential to be an awful lot of folks; we just aren't interesting enough for the news... or the Jerry Springer show.
