Post your best mix and comment poster above you!

^ - Dude fuck the mix, that song kills! Very Nevermorish at times, but overall that fucking grooves, I love it! In terms of the mix, the ride annoys me a little bit (I know it's programmed drums, that's the reason though), programmed drums just annoy me a bit in general, but the mix sounds good, I like the overall tonality :)

Not my best, but my latest: http://www.atlasandiband.co.uk -> Song is the one on soundcloud player not the video one.

I as well did one of Ola's songs (Goddamn guitar) its my latest mix since im a new member i thought id start with that.
Let me know what you think, and whatever you think i can improve on.
Thanks

Agreed, the ride is a bit piercing, and the guitars need more body. The drum shells are nice but I feel like they're hiding from us.

So are you home yet? What do you think of my mix?;)

Yea sorry for the late reply!
Mix sounds congested to me, id cut some fizz on the guitars try Lowpassing them or cutting around 4k. i like the clank from the bass its subtle but not harsh! Kick is a little clicky and the toms and making your limiter work a little harder then it wants, so maybe try hi-passing your toms a little.
Hope this helps:
Heres an update mix any comments on how to make the shells stick out more?

Much better mix! The snare is a lot more snappy and in-your-face. I like the smack of the kick too, what sample are you using?
Are you mixing the DI with the bass? If so, I might try more of the amped bass and less DI, it's a little too grimy for me. The subs do well to add to the guitars though.
I would mix the guitars a bit higher and add more parallel compression to the drums, but that's probably just personal taste. I like involved and loud mixes, and it is possible to get this and still make everything audible! The gain on the guitars, however, could definitely be higher. Ola is like the cleanest guitar player in the world, so don't be afraid to give his tone some edge =]

Here's an update on my mix - I changed out the kick sample for one that's more "slap"-y and less clicky, made the guitars more mid driven and cut some fizz, plus I changed the mixing on the toms (I realized they were mixed far too high when I turned off the mastering plugins). Tell me if you like it better! :D

Hmm.. i think your mix prior to this sounded alot better, the new one sounds like its fighting itself, the drums are overly compressed imo but i dont like that bulbish super smashed drum sound so it cound be me!

I went 180 with the mix and found that the problem was the guitar impulse i was using so let me know if you like this better i think its a bit dark but a step in a better direction:

Pretty cool! It's pumping quite a lot on the kick and snare hits. Overall it could be a bit more open and clear especially in the midrange and guitars. Vocals (an drums) have quite a lot of ambience that sometimes pokes out too much, some more automation there might help. Solo could come up. Bass is cool.

Here's mine, not sure if my best but latest so it better be! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2183128/Aberrant.mp3
