Not much bought, but was hoping to be surprised with the new LEVIATHAN CD, "Mastadon" and was quite disappointed (this isn't the proggy Leviathan from Colorado). The sticker on the wrapper claimed that "Mastadon" is a mix of old Metallica and Rush. I think they are smoking something from Midnight's stash. I never remember Metallica or Rush using 100% throat vocals. What this CD has in common with Rush, I will never know.

Martin Popoff of BWBK gave this a 9 of 10 if I remember and I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at that rating given his fondness of nu-metal. I do agree with him however that the packaging is quite nice (not enough to justify the purchase or keeping it, IMO).

If you're a fan of thrash metal and gruff vocals, then this is probably something you'd like. If you like clean vocals (e.g. Tad Morose, Kamelot, Brainstorm, Edguy), then steer clear from this CD.

The name of the band is Mastodon and the name of their cd is Leviathan. Their first cd is Remission. They are from atlanta.

Suprisingly, I only bought three cds this year. I did come with about 200 less bucks than usual however I did score 7 shirts. Theocracy! Wuthering Heights, two Edguy (kinda annoyed I bought the one with Euro dates and then the next day saw the same shirt but with the North Amercan shows on the back), Avantasia long sleeve, Dream Evil, Sonatas Takatalvi.

The cds were Once, two Platitude and Teddy gave me his Loch Voztok to review.

Woo, I got a new wardrobe now.
