Far Cry 2 would have been one of the best FPS games ever if it didn't take ridiculous amounts of damage to kill a standard enemy. They should have learned after how lousy Far Cry 1 was for the same reason.

I didn't have that option... I used the FAL, PKM, and SVD, and didn't run into those problems even with pistols. Is the Hardcore mode supposed to make that much of a difference? (I had the same experience elsewhere.)

I never bothered to even beat it on normal, it became too much of a chore to play, though I did come across so many frustrating situations of enemies being able to take ridiculous amounts of damage before dying. It grew to remind me of STALKER, and for that I will never play it again.

I might give the hardcore mode a shot though, and try to suppress the memories of wanting to vomit while playing STALKER.

I´m a bad motherfucker with RPD (2 bullets kill on any part of the body at any range). But the rape score is mostly because people are dumb and don´t have a "Cold Blooded + Stinger" class to destroy the Harrier and specially the Chopper Gunner.

There are some maps that are kinda broken in terms of spawn points (Wasteland and Afghan for example). When you´re on the Chopper Gunner, if you quickly kill the entire enemy team, they will be trapped at an open air spawn point, and all you gotta do is keep firing at that spot until you get kills enough for the nuke.

My favourite class is: RPD (w/ Heartbeat Sensor), Stinger, Claymore, Smoke, Sleight Of Hand Pro, Stopping Power Pro, Ninja Pro, Predator-Harrier-ChopperGunner (or Nuke at the Predator slot just for the lulz).

Yeah, and I dunno about anyone else but I found Far Cry 2 to be hugely under-appreciated.
The whole guard posts re-spawning as soon as you're out of eyesight is an awful, awful decision on Ubisoft Montreal's part, but the combat itself is so fluid, visceral and intense that I find myself enjoying every second anyway.

definitely agree with this, I really liked the game but only made it halfway through before I got annoyed by stupid shit like the guard posts and malaria and treating bullet wounds and jammed rifles... and I picked up Uncharted 2 lol

cant wait to re unlock the ACR! ha

i really haven't bothered being a proper geek in it even though im on level 30 in veteran mode i think! haha

ACR is better than M4A1 on all aspects. They have the same damage output, but ACR has the best iron sight of the game (it´s almost a red dot) and perfect precision (the only weapon with zero recoil). Until you unlock the ACR I suggest you to use the TAR-21 as your main automatic assault riffle. It is a very powerful weapon (same damage per bullet of SCAR-H, but with a higher rate of fire), the only trick is that, at very long distances, you better shoot in bursts instead of go full auto, as the recoil can be a problem when the enemy is too far away. Works great with any attachment (I like heartbeat sensor or silencer), Scavenger, Stopping Power and Ninja Pro.
