So I'm a big NBA fan and I was watching the Celtics v. Sixers tonight. Just before the Celtics are introduced to the home crowd they played a piece of song, KG gives a big scream at the end of it on the overhead screen. Very cool riffs and lead work, but it doesn't go to the vocals starting. It sounds so familiar, and has a progpower metal feel to it. I could be way off, does anyone know what that song is?

No, what I heard was a TSO type verison of Lex Aeterna , I should have known because Requiem for a Dream is one of my favorite movies. Clint Marshall composed it. But this original version may be even cooler.

Just heard this flipping through....Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria.

Actually, you are right, they have simliar vibes so when I heard the Clint Marshall peice I thought what I heard on the game was a metal version (ala TSO) type thing. Not sure if the Coheed song is using Lex Aeterna I'm going to listen another time to figure it out.

While not NBA, but sport(ish) related. If anybody watches the japanese tournament Sasuke (Ninja Warrior in states) I could of sworn I heard Edguy being played after a competitor finished his attempt. Also in the last Olympics too iirc.

For future reference, you guys with smartphones should download the free Shazam app. Any recorded music that gets played (it doesn't work via humming or anything like that) and the app picks it up and tells you what the song is. It helped me out many a time at games, movies etc.

He is not kidding, either. I was playing Gamma Ray on my Blackberry in my office at worker. A couple of my subordinates never heard them before. Took the smartphone, and lifted the song from the speakers.
