Some may remember the old Mesa 2x12 cab I snagged some years ago, which has been in a state of flux for years, but is finally almost finished. These cabs came from the factory with the top and bottom halves divided, and only the bottom-half sealed; needless to say, this did not sound too spectacular, so I got a big sheet of birch ply cut to cover the whole back (and two small sheets to cover those vents on the bottom), and then assaulted that middle divider with one of those big wobbly saws and cut it out as best I could given the awkward angles of working in there with a cutting appliance definitely not designed for the task. So here's how it is now:

Workable, I think, but I wouldn't mind spending SOME cash on a power tool that could open it up even more (and a bit more cleanly), but fuck if I know what - any suggestions? A sawzall, maybe?

IDK about the tool, but be sure to protect the speaker from any sawdust that may find its way into every possible little space and affect the sound or even make it die on you way sooner than necessary.

Some trash bag and a duct tape will work here, or even take the speaker out of the cab before taking any power tools to it.

Take the speaker out, use a fucking angle grinder with a cutting blade on it?

then put a fucking sanding blade on the same grinder and sand that shit down. finish with sandpaper until it's smooth if you want to.

Yeah, I should clarify that the speaker and side-handles were of course removed when I cut it out, and will be again once I go for round 2!

The fucking angle grinder looks good Sloan, might give it a try!

I do not own so many power tools because I do not have space to store them. So I prefer rental power tools because there you get every tool you need and you do not need to buy the tool. I also like Bosch tools because they are really high quality tools. so I can also recommend using them.

it's hard for me to tell since the pic isn't working anymore, but one of those oscillating tools with a wood cutting blade would probably be perfect. they don't cut as quickly as a standard saw, but you can make incredibly detailed cuts in tight spaces with them, and it's also really hard to fuck anything up with them - including yourself, lol
