PP USA VIII: Final Band confirmed

I have yet to hear After Forever, but this year is really a completely solid lineup from Showcase - Saturday night headliner....and there's still 2 more Showcase bands to be announced. Great job.

Biggest surprise so far. I actually thought they would blow this off because they are playing a few shows (Like MFVF in Belgium 3 weeks later. Very Good pickup, Glenn.

Just a question: How was this pick going to be controversial? Floor and Co. long deserved a slot like this.

Peace and congrats:
Ray C.

I'm undecided till I give a CD a full listen. Bought their latest today from the $8 After Forever store ;)

I think I like the gothic/doom/ballad style more than the growl/opera style. But the full mix is what I think I'll end up enjoying most. I know I'll watch it though no matter what.

I'm surprised and intrigued at the same time! Seeing FK at the same festival as AF might just be interesting enough for me to make the trip. Anyone here seen AF live? I have slightly mixed feelings about them based on their evolution through the non-Floor to the Floor era.

If all else fails, the chance to see the ever-elusive Redemption seems worthwhile enough!

apparently popularity of a band these days is determined by the counters on myspace.com

Too bad most intelligent people never go to websites like that.

Invisible Circles could have been a great album except for some major flaws that make listening to it very hard (mostly too much spoken word story stuff smack in the middle of a really good song).

I've heard "Prison of Desire" and "Invisible Circles," and you pinpointed my major problem with "IC" - spoken word stuff. I hated it violently. No question, the vocals were beautiful and the music was solid, but I'd be listening to the album and then suddenly this domestic turmoil spoken word stuff comes on. I hate spoken word parts on most albums anyway, but that was something I just didn't want to hear on an album. Personally, I listen to this style of music as pure escapism. Sure, I respect a band that wants to address serious issues, but in the end - not my taste.

But am I complaining? Not by a long shot! I expect them to put on a great live show (hopefully sans spoken word parts), and I really need to check out more of their albums. "Prison of Desire" is some good stuff.

dont care much for female fronted and gothic like bands but seems most people are happy.

After Forever is a gothic band? I really do need to check out more of their albums, because the ones I heard had more of a symphonic metal sound.

I've seen them in 2002 (opening for Nightwish) in Paris and they were excellent.

And what do you mean non-Floor/Floor era ? she's been with them since the beginning.

It seems that if a metal band has a female vocalist, they automatically get labeled as gothic. I don't get it. Band like AF and Within Temptation don't sound gothic to me.

Hate it. Maybe this fest just isn't for me anymore. Enjoy guys.

Don't worry we will have a great time.

ProgPower is a cahnce to go to Atlanta and hang out with some awesome people, drink some(allot) of beer:kickass: eat some good food, laugh, catch up with your brothers and sisters in metal, and there are also some awesome bands playing and that is an added extra. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

So don't worry DT we will have an awesome time, and in retrospect you will be sorry you missed it.
