Haha awesome :yuk:

Really?
Sigh.
Any luck fixing this?

been searching and nothing

luckily this is happening on my laptop (my main setup is flawless I might add :D), was hoping to use it for edits when I'm out of the studio but not looking likely.
Im going to try updating my Asio drivers and such
I guess this is all the more reason to get that macbook pro I have been eying.

Ah glad its a windows problem, no offense! I'm just waiting a couple of days to finish a project and then its PT9 for me!

I've just got one quick question for everybody, do you need a PTM-Powered license or just the serial from a piece of M-audio hardware, as I have a Fast Track Pro but never bothered getting M-Powered as I was using logic.

I just used the serial from my m-box, I didnt try my fast track ultra 8r because I didnt want to pay the extra $100 to crossgrade, but I'm sure its the same deal

Which CAN be done in PT (though with less flexibility than in some other DAWs, or so I've been told).

Yeah, the way most people have adopted in Cubase and other such DAWs is to use it with the mouse. To my knowledge PT only offers slipping with the keyboard.

Really it's not as big a deal as people make it out to be. It's all about what you've learned and what you're used to. PT's editing is perfectly functional without it - you just need to re-arrange your head space a bit and you'll be fine.

I have an MBox with PT 7.1 that I can't find the registration information for as well as an 003 with PT 8, can I upgrade the MBox so I can sell the 003 with software?

I ordered the boxed upgrade, so I am hoping it is the same deal with the serial number for upgrade.

ProTools software is not transferable to a new owner so it will always stay with the original registrations owner, although you can sell your unit and give them a CD and Serial, or if its an ilok auth like M-powered or HD you can transfer the asset to their ilok account, it will remain registered on your digi account.
Hardware however is transferable / Re-Registerable via filling out a change of ownership form which can be downloaded from their site.

The ADC still isn't the same : l

Yeah it is... That's one of the complaints actually.

The max is 4096 in both systems. That's a TDM/DSP related limitation. So the PT9 has the same limitation because Avid can't make it better than HD, even though there is no technical reason why they can't do it. They just can't offer a better product to the Native customers and piss off the HD owners.

That TBH has never caused me an issue! even when i was using UADS all the time, i never used them enough to be higher than 4096 samples.

+1
I've heard people complain about pro tools lack of slip editing, but i dont even know what it is.

Hey Brian, here's a quick quick demo showing the drum editing workflow:

Basically I am using an action that cuts the tracks under the mouse cursor and places a crossfade here, then I'm sliding the audio inside the item to the appropriate place. End result is exactly the same as Beat Detective-style, just a different way of getting there.

*DISCLAIMER: This is not me trying to steal the thread or shit talk PT, just helping Brian understand what slip editing is :p*

Here's a little clip:
