i'm guessing I'll be insulted asking this basic question, but here's a shot

I'm recording a band tomorrow, 8 mics are potentially called for on the drums. I can set the click track via the headphones for the drummer...he also wants a scratch guitar track in his ear. Since I've used up 8 mics already, what am I to do? I have a Digidesign multi-fx pedal...could I plug this into the Profire for him to hear it (also the click I'm feeding him thru Logic) ???

No. Not if you're using all the inputs for the drums.

A click is simple to setup. Just route it from Logic to whatever output you've got assigned to the headphones.

It won't be me recording the guitar, but is that the only option? to tell the guitar player to record the songs with the click tracks... then feed that to the drummer? I wish there was another way. :( Feeding the click won't be the issue, the drummer just wants the click and the guitatist jamming (while he records the drums) I'm afraid I'm out of inputs to feed the scratch guitar.

Just record the scratch guitar before tracking the drums.

+ 1. This will make it so the drummer and guitarist aren't compromising tightness with each other and getting off the grid.

To do your click use either the pencil tool on the top or press "t" and your tempo changes should pop up so that you can type each one in. Pretty simple stuff.

If you don't want to hear the click in the control room go to file> project settings> metronome and set it to outputs 3-4 and assign the headphones to outputs 3-4. Also make sure to check the "click while recording" and "click while playing" boxes so that it will be active the whole time.

Hopefully you're using logic 9 so you can use flex for phase locked editing because tab to transient cutting is a pain in the ass on complex drums.
