Hard.

Its only saving graces were the visuals and the acting. The script and plot, hell even the editing have got to be some of the most disappointing in a long time. Anyone else caught this yet? It's like if the decoration was removed it would be a downright terrible film. Characters that contradict themselves constantly, events that make no sense and totally illogical decisions every other scene.

"Giant dead bodies? fuck that shit." "unknown life form to the west? lets go east", 5 minutes later "giant mutated alien snake? HEY LITTLE LADY, HOW YA DOIN"

Yeah it's one you catch for the aesthetics only. The visuals are equivalent to a Randy mix - everything is massive, all the time. The plot consistency is about equivalent to the arrangement abilities of most 'song writers' in the core scene.

I'm not very analytical when it comes to movies, and I'm a bit drunk, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The visuals were great, and the I enjoyed the story and acting.

How many of you guys are fans of the Alien series and the back story???
Prometheus fits in pretty perfectly and there's shit loads of pointers in there about the story and the mythos behind it

Ive heard only two reports... and that's that its either amazing, or fucking terrible. Lol, wonder where Ill side? Prob on the terrible side

This. It was fucking sweet for the most part with all that in mind, but on it's own it's a really sloppy movie.

I agree entirely... But to be fair... Could it have EVER been aimed at anyone who wants to see it as a stand alone?

I only say that because so much of the story told in Prometheus was meant to have been in the first Alien movie but the studio didn't want it. So he went back and made this, and said, 'Oh it's totally acceptable on it's own'... Yet 30 minutes in I'm like.. AH! IT MAKES SENSE NOW. I don't think anyone I was with WASN'T an Alien fan though, so that might explain my experience :p

I loved Prometheus. Wouldn't have complained at all if the whole film was from 'Davids' P.o.v and perspective on the chain of events. Looking forward to the sequel.

I think the biggest issue is not how it fits into the franchise, but rather the individual character motivations & reactions, which feel so bizarre and flippant. It's hard to get into without spoiling it for those who haven't seen, but some of the turns feel really nonsensical.

As a huge fan of the alien series i have to say that i LOVED it.
Finally we got an explanation as to what the aliens are, why they exist, how they came to be and why the spaceship was found on LV-426.
It also answers Wayland's extreme interest in the aliens.

The movie in it self might not be that great, but as a part of the alien series its nothing but amazing.

i loved how blatantly the alien-thing was rubbed on the viewers' faces at the end of the movie. maybe it was added for people like me, who aren't exactly huge fans of the alien series.

i was pretty confused in many parts for that same reason. still, it was pretty good for a watch.

I was constantly going between, "This is pretty." and "This is retarded" and a few chuckles here and there. The movie is what is it. I already went in with low expectations and came out seeing a pretty average movie. So, I guess....Mission Accomplished?
