But does it really a matter if god is real or not? if muhammed or jesus have existed and walked upon this earth? The fact still remains that god and different prophets have had more impact on mankind and the western world than any real person has ever had. Almost everything we do and say in our society is marked by religion in some way and the fact that billions of people believe in this stuff is real and that is what I believe matters. I do not believe in god or the devil but religion is real. The impact of the bible and the quran in this world, the supposed words of god, are very real. So I would say that sure god may not exist in the same way as we do but still the thought of god exists, the supposed words of god exist, the followers of god exist but most importantly the result of god and his words and will exist in this world.

I think it's all about behavior, some believers try to behave "well" (which is a relative thing) to please their God so they can enter heaven or whatever, some other believers want to do well just for the sake of it despite in whom they believe (such as me, I don't really care where I go after death as long as it's not a torture hahahah).
For me, the problem is religion ! religion in a sense of a form of power that dominates people's thoughts, not but sharing its ideas, but by imposing them somehow, and this has gone too far as everyone knows. Also, religion is an excuse for many things. The term itself is tainted with idiots' deeds.
Also, religion has influenced the world BOTH negatively AND positively ! every single belief system has done so.

Religion is about control, control of peoples mind in particular....what is good, what is bad, most of our laws in modern society comes from religion and what religion think should be allowed and not allowed, it is fucking horrible how much religion is part of our society! I was thinking about it this morning (although I lately try to prevent myself from "thinking"), it's up to your definition of freedom.
I said it before and I'll say it again, I kinda share the idea of Rousseau when it comes to freedom.
I also believe that freedom can be achieved through reasoning. like, I'm FREE to think differently than you, than my religious doctrine, than society, than myself (like thinking from a different perspective), even if I believe that God exists, I feel free to look at things from an atheistic perspective as much as possible.
If I'm free from moral and ethics of religion and accept yours, then I'm the slave of your own morals and ethics. So, if I support the idea, I feel free, if i'm against it and u force it on me, I feel like a slave. it's all relative.
