I'm a little confused! Please help! (Noob content).

So I finally got some nice settings for guitar tone, I was trying a DI I downloaded from Ola Englund which was peaking around -8 dbfs. Chain is TSE-808 2.0 tube screamer sim->TSE X50-> kefir with guitar hack impulses->EQ.

I remember reading at onqel's old forum that your input should be dialed to the right and find a sweet spot but only in the first part of the chain (this case the Tube Screamer) so I dial the input to the right maxed and it sounds even better than before. I have now a fantastic guitar sound.

Ok, everything seem fine right? Problem is, when I mute every plugin in the chain except the tube screamer, the channel starts clipping, peaking at positive numbers (duh). But then it goes to the next part which is TSE x50 and since I lowered the output in this plug in, I have now a good level, same with kefir.

Is this ok? I mean, I don't want to mess with channel the fader 'cause if I lower it, I lose my punchy guitars. The "volume" knob ("level" on the hardware version) on the Tube Screamer is cranked as well as the input level making the signal super loud (but makes the guitar sound awesome), is this volume knob supposed to be the "output"? When I dial either the volume or the input down I get a healthy level but it loses punch but maybe it's because the X50 needs to grab a really high level to get that punchy sound I want.

So yeah, the guitars are clipping at some point and I'm concerned. I'd really like to know if there's some workaround for this or I'm overthinking. Thanks!
