I heard that ProTools' MIDI stuff sucks ass. How is this and how does it affect me switching to ProTools and still programming drums with ezdrummer?

I haven't used EZdrummer but for other programming PT is way less intuitive than say, Steinberg stuff.
Now if you are trying to edit midi with a reference to a waveform, (IE recreating a bass track via midi), PT may be the way to go because you can see where the midi note is in relation to the waveform, all in the same screen. Can't do that with some programs.

BOOSH.
it's a little more difficult to edit midi in pro tools than some other daws, but it's not that bad. logic is easier. Pro tools needs a midi edit window.

I have not upgraded to Protools 7.4 but i heard they really stepped the midi game up. Maybe someone with 7.4 can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

no problems here w/ midi in PT. Maybe it sucks if you get super deep but for recording and editing of midi it's fine.

I use Cubase for MIDI and protools for everything else. You can definitely do midi in PT, but not as intuitive and more work is involved.

Having done some midi stuff in PT lately I still prefer cubase more. However it's not that bad at all.

When they added Instrument tracks is where things started getting good.
Nothing wrong with the MIDI in PT, I've seen a 60 fader SSL with its automation being controlled via PT, which is far more complicated than your simple drum programming.
