QOTSA - Era Vulgaris

So, what's the overall consensus on the new one? My opinion is still up in the air, as some songs smoke and others are merely "meh." But with that said, Ive only listened to it a few times and QOTSA albums are usually growers to the max.

Have any of you invested time into Era Vulgaris yet, and if so, what's the deal?

I don't know, a few of the songs I've heard sounded fucking terrible while the others were quite splendid.

It's incredible how dissapointing is the new QOTSA album. I've just heard it 4-5 times trying to find something positive in it, but no luck yet.

Needless to say that with the coming of the new Doomsword, Candlemass etc the 4-5 times seemed enough.

Pretty damn true..amongst other things. Although, I havent gotten into the new Candlemass yet either.

I've listened to this one twice, and I really don't like it.

All their other shit is easily 9/10 material, so I'm not giving up. But it doesn't look good. It's like a big pink submarine: jumbo gay phallus.

You just need to focus your attention on Zebulon Pike, The Rubes, Stinking Lizaveta, and the new Solace.

I saw Stinking Lizaveta open up for Clutch in a tiny ass club while there were only like 20 other people there. It was maybe the greatest show I've ever seen, and I hadn't even heard of them beforehand. I talked with the guitar player fellow for a while afterwards and he certainly gained my respect. Great shit, all around. He even got on top of his stack and started screaming into the pickups of his guitar which was going through tons of messed-up effects. Truly psychedelic music.
