Queensryche/Symphony X Tour

I haven't decided which show to hit up yet, but most likely it'll be the one at the Keswick. I'm not a huge Queensryche fan, so I'm not going to pay $45 for multiple shows to hear SymX play a bunch of tunes I've already heard 5 or 6 times already. I think this tour will definitely be good for SymX though--they'll finally get the exposure they need and deserve.

Roads to Madness?!!! I hope they play that this time..Anyone have a current setlist for Qryche & SX??..I think they've already had their first show..

PS- all of you can argue about what band is better until you're blue in the face, but it all comes down to each person's opinion..So there's no use in arguing about it! You'll never get anywhere.. :)

I find it interesting that everyone who WAS bashing Queensryche has nothing to comment on since I posted that setlist, which up until probably 2 days ago, was the most recent one possible.
The reason for no comments? That setlist is about 95% older material...which is the only way QR will get anyone to their show. As opposed to DT, whose latest material draws people who can't wait to see the new stuff played live. Everything Ryche has done after Empire has been forgettable...and I was a huge Ryche fan. I was hoping, with DeGarmo back on the Tribe release, that they would return to the formula that made them. It didn't happen. QR can still draw an audience, but it's the older material that gets them there, otherwise ....

Couldn't agree with you more. I'll be at the show Sat. in NY and I'm totally psyched to see both them and SymX. Though I agree QR's earlier stuff was the best, a big reason being because it was so "fresh", I really loved the latest, Tribe. So there's another person's opinion. Ain't it a beautiful thing?

I think Tribe is a great album... Q2K sucked but all the ones before that were good. Operation Mindcrime was a masterpiece that only comes around once in a bad's existence.

I know a guy who interviewed Geoff Tate at the Detroit show... someone mentioned to him he should ask

"Q2K... You were joking, right?"

I thought that was pretty hillarious. He really should have asked him but I doubt he did.

I won't comment on Dream Theater, as they couldn't get a reaction out of me if they simultaneously farted harmoniously in church.

The point being, is that everyone was quick to bitch about Queensryche not playing anything good, and not paying attention to their older material, and blah blah blah blah fucking blah. Well horseshit. Obviously they understand that to put on a quality show, they need to cover their Empire-and-earlier stuff to do so. And so they do. So why all the fucking bitching about how "good they'll be"?

Do they? When I saw them on the Q2K tour they played only "Walk in the Shadows" from their first three releases, and three songs from "Mindcrime".

Beyond their poor song choices, the quality of their performance was shit when I saw them. Since they are one of my all-time favorite bands, I'm hoping they impress me next Saturday.

Zod

Zod, the point being is the setlist I posted was from October 2003, not from 2000. It's obviously far more indicative of what they're playing than the "Q2K" tour, which sounds like an obvious hunk of poop.

When I saw them in 2001, they kicked fargin' ass as well.

Queensryche's tour-opening setlist:

Damaged
Losing Myself
Desert Dance
Rhythm of Hope (Acoustic)
Road to Madness (Acoustic)
Silent Lucidity (Acoustic)
Anybody Listening
Take Hold of the Flame
================ Pamela Moore came out
Operation Mindcrime
Spreading the Disease
Mission
Suite Sister Mary
Breaking the Silence
I don't Believe in Love
Eyes of a Stranger
================ Encore

Best I Can

Anyone who leaves after Symphony X's 6-7 songs is just plain stupid. Or 18 years old.

I went to the show last night at the House Of Blues in Chicago (2nd of two nights,) and I gotta say, it was a really good show, from Symphony X on through the 'Ryche. By no means do I like Queensryche's last three albums, but that material was kept to a minimun with four off the new one.

However, if SymX was not the opening band, there would have been no way that I would have paid what they were asking for tickets. $37.50 base + 7.30 in TicketWhore service charges made the two that I bought for myself and my girlfriend over $90!

So, if anyone else has a chance to see this show (with SX), then I definitely recommend that you go!

Take about 7 songs off of that list and you have yourself a decent show...but thankfully Symphony X saved it by adding 6 or 7 obviously

$45 is a lot for a ticket for two reasons:
1. It is $45 X 2 since I paid for the both of us...
2. Aside from Progpower, I couldn't tell you the last time I paid more than $22 for a show (each ticket). I get into a lot of shows for free, so the gap from free to $90 is a lot, IMO.

By the way, "Hemispheres" rules. Period.

Which 7 songs would you remove? There are only a handful of duds in there, and out of 24, I'd say that's ok. Not everyone can be an opener forever you know.

I do know what you mean, but Queensryche has earned veteran status at this point, so to me, $45/ticket just isn't that much. Iron Maiden charged $68 back in January. Judas Priest is on Ozzfest and those were $100 before it sold out in 3 1/2 minutes; god only knows how much the brokers are going to want. Rush (all 3 dates I'm going to) averaged $75/ticket. Van Halen this summer is $105.

Fuck, Morbid Angel/Suffocation & Satyricon tonight in NYC is $30 at a 1,000 capacity club!

I'm just saying is all. Not every band is going to play in a tiny crudhole for $13.

P.S. Yessir, I've been lovin' Hemispheres much of late.

Like I've posted here before....everything after Empire is ...at best...forgettable.
I have to agree; they went to the shits after Empire, and I had no intention of going to the show this Sat at the Beacon if Symphony X wasn't given the opening slot. Alot of dough for me to shell out to see SX play for 1/2 hour, but it's worth seeing them play in a great venue like the BEacon as opposed to a heavy metal bike shop that I saw them in a few years back!
