I listened to that album again today because I saw this post. My oh my, it's been a while.
I also went a bit bezerk this afternoon and a 'short song' I was writing turned into an 8 minute prog odyssey. I'm quite proud of it.
I think I might just go and see them on this tour.

I have to admit that i haven't really properly listened to Queensryche either. I think i heard one song from Operation Mindcrime - will have to check this out

Bristol Show: 24/6/2008 - my thoughts.
OM1 & OM2, back to back, with 'Jet City Woman' and 'Empire' as encores.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of people really enjoyed this show (see above). For me, the second half dragged, and the rest of the band looked bored to tears. I saw them 'do' Mindcrime in Newport about 20 years ago, and it was superb. This was a lot more 'Am Dram'-meets-rock affair, with the second half seeming to go on forever and lacking the fire of the first Mindcrime. Too many slow songs, and leaving with a whimper rather than a bang.
Encores were OK, but it looked like a band going throught the motions. OK, it's a 'show' rather than a 'gig' but even during the encores there was very little fire left. Shame. ...and £15 for a signed setlist? £5 for two plectrums? ...I don't think so!
Not sure I'll bother in 20 years time
