anyone knows if the guitarist is picking the song with the plectrum or with his fingers? i'm learning the song with both of the technics but i find plectrum picking a bit hard because of the fast and big string skipps.

The intro part is definitly fingerpicking. Though it's hard to tell cuz the two guitars mesh together so flawlessly and you can't tell what comes from guitar 1 or what comes from guitar 2. Maybe one guitar is fingerpicking and the other one is using a pick... who knows? 
ps - why don't we all ask the band to post a couple of official tabs on the web site? most bands do that

yup, it would be great, but as far as i know most bands sell their tabs as songbook-s. Tabs you find on the net are written by fans. It's very rare when i find a tab that is corrected or written by the artist.

I play the entire song fingerpicked... actually I almost never use a plectrum when playing my acoustic.

I think Dark Tranquillity has done official tabs too. I wish Opeth would do some.
