i am elixer man myself and i am almost always in C standard tuning and i have always used 12-52 for this but would using the 12-68 baritone strings give me a better tone for this tuning or would there really be no difference in tone?

12-68's on a standard scale neck aren't really going to work that well. Go for 12-58's for a little extra tension on the low E string, without having to maul your nut to get the 68's to fit.

Tone-wise, any difference between a set of 12-52's and a set of 12-62's on the same guitar is going to be so minute that you'll never notice the difference once you've changed them over.

How heavy is your right hand?

We discuss this subject twice a week it seems, and you'll always get a million different opinions because everyone has a different preference. I use heavy as hell strings in a similar tuning, since anything lower will sound like floppy shit with my tough right hand. Other people do fine with a bit lower gauge.

Try it and see for yourself.
