If Sweet Home Alabama, Love Floats, and Titanic are "chick flicks" does that make Brokeback Mountain a "dick flick?"

Pesonally, you couldnt pay me enough to see that movie. Unless its a horror or comedy, I want nothing to do with it, gay cowboys have nothing to do with me not wanting to see it. Although the thought of cowboys being gay is amusing.....

Look I am the same - not that I am homophobic or anything but I have zero interest in this film.

But ya know what irks me is that because this is a movie about gay cowboys its gotta be Oscar material. I wonder if the story had been about straight cowboys whether the accolades would be coming this films way.

Yawn.

Eric Cartman said it best almost 10 years ago.
"independent movies are thoes crappy movies about gay cowboys that eat pudding."

I'd watch broke back mountain. It doesn't bother me any that the cowboys are gay.

Midnight cowboy was a great flick, after all. *shrugs*

I'm the same way. I have no desire to see Brokeback Mountain, and not because of the "gay" content. Rather, I really have no desire to see love-story drama. I'm not a big drama fan. I like to laugh during a movie (be it from a comedy or from seeing someone getting his head blown off).

A lady at work said that I was a homophobe for not wanting to see it.

I asked if she saw soulplane, when she said no I called her a racisit.

Its a story about love, but between two men as opposed to between a man and a woman. I know most of you think its some kind of hidden "gay agenda" bullshit, but welcome to the 21st Century. Ive been meaning to see it for a while. Im sure if you opened your mind, you might actually find its a good movie.

But I wouldn't go see a love story in the movies. I usually only go for dick and fart jokes.

Ah, I love when people profess to be the experts on open minds.

Where in that quote did John say he was an expert on open minds????!! I though Johnthrax's comment was spot on and my respect for him has grown.

One can psycho analyze Metal thrashing Kansan's post on this matter. Let me begin:

The thoughts of this movie irked him enough to start a thread about it on, of all places, an Anthrax message board.

He mentions that you couldn't pay him enough money to watch it. I'm sure most of here would drop whatever we were doing and kill two hours if someone offered us, say a hundred bucks to go see this. A hundred not enough, maybe a G?? But Metal thrashing Kansan would avoid watching it at all costs. Why? Fear of liking it.

Fear of liking it. After all, he does end his original statement with, " Although the thought of cowboys being gay is amusing....."

Let's pause here for a moment to define comedy. Which is a genre of film that metal thrashing kansan has already professed his fondness for. When we watch stand up comics, they make us laugh by saying things we already knew. Their delivery of saying things that we all relate to, is just funny. It's amusing.

So if cowboys being gay is amusing, could it be that metal thrashing kansan is a closet case homophobe?? I would not be surprised at all. I'm probably gonna get a shit storm by him now. Maybe even racist remarks. He did once on the board rag on latino's. Made the ignorant comment of calling us all "mexicans".

Throwback Mountain is not a movie me and my friends would choose to go see. But I live in DC and I have friends of all races, age, color, gender, sexual orientation etc etc. If I happened to be with a group of friends that chose to watch this movie, I wouldn't cry like a bitch. I'd watch it with an open mind.

after editing my post 3 or 4 times and just totally venting, I realized that it would be of no avail. I am very far from being a racist. Ask my wife and kids as she is Korean and her boys (our boys) are guatamalan. I am far from homophobe. I just dont want to see a stupid love story. I said the same thing about Sweet Home Alabama. So, do we all owe Alexstomp money for his psychotherapist analysis? Hope not, because I am broke.

I might rent it once it's out on DVD, not going to pay ten bucks to see it now. Anytime a movie gets this many good reveiws and wins tons of awards I'm likely to check it out. I wasn't sure about American Beauty a few years ago but I'm glad I gave a chance.

Kevin Spacey was the shit in that movie.
