Heard a demo vs a 57 not long ago and it seemed the AT held its own so I thought id do a very quick test of mine....

Im quite impressed especially since my cradle kept falling under the weight and I didn't spend long positioning it at all.

Just used the 2 tracks here...some EQ needed, there's masses of top end hiss but most of it is gone with a nice 12k filter.

Very much a useable mic for guitars :loco:

Sounds pretty good to me. Curious, what kind of positioning did you use?

Erm, it ended up slightly on a downward slant...similar to the typical 57 style really, moved it a little off center. Though it was quite awkward to place.

Wouldn't mind trying to on the bottom right speaker in future along with a 57 on the one I used there as its always been my fav speaker, on the 57 at least...

Yeah will try that sometime, though im debating weather I should dual mic on the same speaker or a different one...would be a bit of an experiment as ive never done it before. Especially with a condensor.

Thats maybe where the variphase on the Mico will come in handy.

EDIT: Now I know why I kept thinking of the bottom speaker blend...I don't have 2 boom stands

Sounds really awesome, man! And it's good to show everyone else that there are different mics for heavy tones out there, not only 57s.

Cheers!

Thanks for posting guys, glad I can give another option with guitar mics!

I've got a pretty large reamp to do soon, been thinking of going all out and using it with the 57. With some time and proper mic positioning I think it could turn out pretty killer!
