rare prog from early 70s

I heard the band Asia Minor for the first time the other day; I must say I was very impressed. I heard a couple of tracks from 'Between Felsh and Divine' which - although released in 81 - is actually GOOD, mid 70s influenced prog rock. I can hear a lot of Camel influence going on, in the vocals, melodies and flutes. I definitely have to pick up the album.

Any of you guys fans?

If not - and if you like Camel - I definitely recommend this band (at least from what I've heard). Just listen to the first track, 'Nightwind'. Brilliant.

I've also been exploring the Italian scene a lot more; I've always been a fan of the greats (PFM, Loconda Della Fate, Le Orme, Semiramis, etc) but I didn't realise how much good stuff there is out there.

Been listening to the Linda Perhacs samples nfu sent me, quite good, I sort don't see what the fuss is. ITs good music but nothing I would rave about. However the song hey, who really cares is magical.

yeh, the director's cut is total shit but the original version is great :) really like the atmosphere of it alot. great stuff...

I have the director's cut but I've never watched it. I've only watched the original which is under the special features section.

The only shit thing about Pompeii is half of it was recorded on a sound stage later and pompeii footage cut over the top. I was dissapointed when i heard that, although its still the best music dvd i have.

whos raving about linda perhacs? shes a retired hippy vocalist who did one album 30+ years ago.

dont get me wrong, i love her and think her album is fantastic...but i think she easily goes under the radar with 99.999999999% of the world.

I read a few posts in this thread saying how good it was, mike said it as well i think. Ill buy the album, just wouldnt rave about it.

I suppose there is a bit of Irony saying a person who has probably sold a few thousand records has to much fuss made over her.

its not ironic. its just nonsenical...seeing as how theres no truth to it. thats all. ive only met 3 people who have spoken about her: mikael akerfeldt, steven wilson, and stefan dimle. thats far from hype imo

That album is pretty memorable; the song Porcelain Baked-Over Cast Iron Wedding is my favourite. There is something about her voice that makes you love the simplest of songs.

If you like her check out Lisa Germano(all of her albums are great).

Yea but they went to a French sound stage afterwards and did over dubs and stuff like that (ie echoes in the footage on the directors cut) and im sure careful with that axe was recorded on a sound stage.

Ill check out Lisa Germano thanks

O hell yeah as i said earlier its the best concert dvd ive got, the way they play off each other and have a feel for the songs (sure they arent techical at all). IF i could play that good id be a better man.

i love to watch 'a saucerful of secrets' and 'set the controls for the heart of the sun'. i wonder what kind of effects and stuff gilmour uses in saucerful...

also in some part of echoes I gilmour has some kind of real great distortion, i wonder with what he got that sound in 1971...
