Peter Criss (Kiss) = 4 in the '70s, 1 now.
Dave Lombardo (Slayer) = 9
Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) = 10 for skill but I hate him
Bobby Rock (VVI, Nitro, Nelson, solo dude) = 10+ HUGELY talented (listen to his fills!) but never distracts from the guitar work, keeps it simple and fist-in-the-air
Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) = 9, killer grooves on Feelgood & great attitude, shame he does rap now.
Eric Carr (Kiss) = 7 on record (except Creatures he gets 9), but 10 live coz he can make songs rock as hard as possible
Rikki Rockett (Poison) = 8, underrated drummer, great work on Flesh & Blood
Richard Christie (Death, Iced Earth, etc) = 6, huge talent but drums should kick the song along, not standout alone
Jimmy DeGrasso (Megadeth, Alice Cooper) = 9
Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice, Sabbath, Lita, Badlands, etc) = 9, his resume speaks for itself! Haha!
Bill Ward (Black Sabbath) = 6
Randy Castillo (Ozzy, Motley Crue) = 9, fantastic hard rock drummer!
Charlie Benante (Anthrax) = 7
Scott Travis (Racer X, Judas Priest) = 10+ brilliant!! Painkiller has the best drumming ever!

Rick Allen (Def Leppard) = 5 when he had 2 arms, but 6 after that, gotta take the missing arm into consideration!

Hey Spawn..... if you wanna find out just how good Mike Pornot yis, Utopia just got in stock his double DVD called: Liquid Drum Theater. This is not a Dream THeater dvd, but a Portnoy drumming one. He goes through songs from Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment, and plays them. There are about 4 or 5 diff angles all around his kit that you can choose. He is just incredible to watch. He plays some shit hot beats, and does it with such ease. Check it out
 
Ill trust your opinion on this matter Sprucey, I dont think I could sit through 2 dvds of drumming when im not a drummer :lol: ;) :D
 
Only a 4 for Bobby Rock? The man is a maniac on the drums!!! As I said though, the reason why i like him better than Mike Portnoy etc is because during 99% of the duration of the songs he does a straight up easy rock beat, because it's what suits the songs better. But his fills are just mind blowing, and listen to the drumming at the end of Twisted to get an idea of what I mean!! He also has instructional videos and solo albums and stuff, he's one of those virtuoso clinic type drummers. But he is better coz he's also just a cool rocker who can refrain from showing off and usually does.

Sprucey probably for the same reason I don't like Dream Theater. I just don't like that whole progressive type of music in general.

No but I've been meaning to check out some of his solo stuff! :) I've only heard his work with Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Nitro and a bit of Nelson.... was listening to Nitro - O.F.R. before though and even in a 2 second drum fill its like you can hear an entire 40 piece kit being used!

Spruce: Every time I meet him he rather rude - pushing past, struggle to even get a hello out of him, where as every one else of met seem really nice.

And I kjnow I aint the only one to think this.

Troops: Bobby's latest kit has 21 pieces, 20 Cymbals, and 9 pedals - ie fucking huge. Out Of Body is my favourite CD, it rocks - there's even a version of Walk This Way.
I just got his DVD (came out a few weeks ago) for the extra footage that wasn't on the double video of the same thing.

BTW, He looks a hell of a lot like Sly Stallone.
