There are no actual "pros" to doing this.

"Saves time" is kind of a dubious "pro" in this situation. It's like saying, "I'll just jump off the roof of this building instead of taking the elevator, it'll save me some time."

Haha. That's awesome. Locked in memory bank for future reference.

Silly idea. Do it if you want a shit sound, by all means.

I do two DI tracks into a stereo instance of PODfarm, hardpanned left and right, but that's because it can process both as if it were two mono PF instances.

Although this is a bizarre idea for guitars, I did have a (VAGUELY similar) idea the other day, which may totally suck, I'm yet to try it.

Specifically for reamping solos/leads:
You could send the DI of the solo to an aux input and comp/limit it to fuck, so the sustain and tails of notes are way more pronounced than the 'real' take. Then you could blend the normal DI with the smashed DI, thus still having the normal pick attack.

Basically it's parallel comp on the DI before it hits the amp, rather than compressing the distorted tone. I have no idea if there is a benefit to hitting it with comp pre or post amp...

I may get shot down for this, but it seemed like something that might be worth a try for weakly recorded solos or people who don't have decent sustain.

Now THAT is an interesting idea and at least worth looking into. Dan, you don't post much anymore, but when you do...it's quality. ;) (actually, I kind of miss your regular posting)

Cheers mate, Kind of you to say so. :)

I still keep an eye on here on a regular basis but just don't post much as I rarely have anything more valuable to say than what other people have already covered!

I know nobody will believe me, but I'm still gonna finish Enter Soundman. Just waiting for my AxeFXII to arrive which I ordered in April. Hurry up G66! :D

I've accidentally, after a long day of working in the studio, put two DI's through an amp during a reamp session. Caught it almost immediately. You'll know somethings wrong, it sounds like total, utter, complete shit.

what about amp sims? if you have a group with your amp sim loaded on it, is it normal to run your doubled takes to the group with one amp sim on it?
