A friend of mine recorded a song along with one of his buddies (I think these guys are like 16 or something), crappy drum mics in a living room, amp was a Ibanez transistor combo mic'ed with an SM58 and some other mic, haha. Considering the raw material I'm pretty darn pleased with it.

Had to sample replace kick and toms 100%. Snare was a useable, so it's original and 60% of slate snare 10 along with it's room sample. Did an interesting thing with the guitars. the signal was so hot and clippy it almost sounded as if it was lined (although it was mic'ed), so I blended in some impulses on top of the mic'ed signal and eq'ed the shit to death. Tube coloration was also key. Vocals are the 58 i think.

This was their tracking mix btw:

Ha.. fuckin' hell man, you're a little bitch with those granny tits hahaha but nah man seriously other than the guitars which sound terrible.. I think you made a HUGE improvement on the mix.. it;s all up front etc nice one!

Haha, my granny tits are so saggy for you!
And thanks, a sad thing about the guitars yeah. A lesson why people should not waste their time with hardware, haha.

huge improvement on the starting mix, really good job.

however, the guitars sound really boxy (in both versions, so i guess there isn't much to be done..!)

that's my only complaint with it overall.. really good other wise!

thanks,
