Looks just like my copy except it doesn't have that licensed by Sanctuary Music on it.
Yep, it's that 'licensed' by Sanctuary that has me perplexed. As far as I know, Noise Records owner Karl Walterbach sold the entire Noise catalog to Universal Music Group, but it's affiliate Sanctuary Records went out of business before this reissue was released, in 2008. So, how can it be 'licensed' from a label that doesn't exist? I would hit up Displeased Records for an answer, but they'll never get back to me, so it's pointless to go that route.
What really bothers me about this, though is the awful 'cut and paste' method they used to master this thing. I think the files were taken from someones hard drive, and dragged in to a burner drive via Windows. Just like the average person would do to make a CD from MP3 files.
I'm just getting tired of the attitudes by labels like Displeased, Century Media, Prosthetic, ect; towards 'Metal' fans, and the idea that were so dumb we won't notice mastering mistakes.
I bought the Prosthetic Records reissue of Testament's "The Gathering" awhile back. I noticed that the 'remastering' they did on the album was horrible, and completely different than the original. Actually it suffered from the same treatment the above mentioned Deathrow 'reissue' did, in that it had the same annoying 2-second gaps and a very low volume.
When I called them on it, and proved it by showing them a comparison to the original, they still acted as though they had no idea what the hell I was talking about. I had to spell it out for them. In the end, I wasn't thanked for pointing out a serious audio discrepancy on one of their products, but the guy got pissed at me for pointing it out! Anyways, I just hate it when labels put out crap and expect buyers to accept sub-par products that they've paid for.
