Recent CD buys

Thanks for the info. It appears Sanctuary was the U.K. 'affiliate' of Noise Records, and when Displeased licensed the album from the recently sold Noise Records, they THOUGHT they were supposed to slap that logo on the disc for distribution in the U.K. (which is where my version is from). :err:In actuality, Sanctuary didn't exist when this album was released! Completely unnecessary due to the fact that Dis-order Distribution was the real distributor for all of Europe at that time, for Displeased Records.

Nobody can explain why the 'mastering' is shoddy... My bet is that when they did a 'repress', someone grabbed the 'raw' audio files thinking it was the finished 'master', and used it to replicate the discs.

Sanctuary purchased Noise Records in 2001 from Karl and they became rightsholder (along with purchasing Creation Records, Neat Records, Castle Communications, etc at various other times). 2007, Sanctuary was purchased by Universal Music, in the acquisition they closed Sanctuary and absorbed it's catalog. They still maintain the rights to the Noise catalog (or at least most of it. some bands have regained control, naturally, or are willing to risk the fight.). Displeased Records is Dis-order Distribution. Same company pretty much in Benelux territory. He wanted to distribute Divebomb.

that is the jist of it.

I hear that, man. A lot of stuff I downloaded to listen to (especially reissues) before I would spend money on it, and ended up just never getting around to buying it. Like a lot of the ones you have listed above...

I've learned over the years that when an album has been reissued a few different times by different labels, it's best to investigate and find the best version. Helstar is a good example of that. "Burning Star" has three different CD versions in the last 10 yrs alone, each with a different remastering.

Because of this, I end up with all these CD-R's of albums I hadn't gotten around to buying yet, haha...

This CD buying disease is going to be the end of me, financially. It's a good thing I don't have a wife to answer to...:yell:

1. D.B.C. "Universe" [2005 reissue] (Can't believe I haven't bought this til now. One of the most original sounding 'thrash' albums...ever. Early Voivod, get outta the way!):worship:

2. Mekong Delta "Intersections" (Love these new versions of older songs):headbang:

3. Angelus Apatrida "Clockwork" and "The Call" [limited editions]

4. Exodus "Pleasures Of The Flesh" [2011 Deluxe Edition] (exactly the same as
the 2008 'Deluxe', licensed by Icarus Records)

5. Annihilator "Criteria For A Black Widow" [2010 :erk: 'they changed the song
sequence for no good reason' Reissue on Earache Records]

6. Believer "Sanity Obscure" [2008 Reissue]:headbang:

7. Assassin "Chronicles Of Resistance" (Good sounding reissue of the band's first 2 albums):headbang:

8. Faith Or Fear "Punishment Area" [1999 Reissue] (Well, actually we'll see if that's what it is. I'm smelling 'bootleg' already...) :err:
