Recent CD buys

Been a long time, so I apologize in advance for the 'long-winded' post, but...

Savatage - [2011 Ear Music Reissues] "Sirens/Dungeons", "Power Of The Night", "Hall Of The Mountain King", "Gutter Ballet", "Ghost In The Ruins".

Does anyone know if all of these EM reissues were re-mastered? Just curious. I know "Sirens" was because it says so in the liner notes, plus "Mountaing King" definitely sounds much better than I remember it, but other ones...not so much. Kinda weak sounding, like the originals. Especially "Power..." There was tons of room for some really good low end there, especially due to the nice clean Max Norman mix, but I was very disappointed to hear it sounding so thin. It should stand to reason that if no one was credited for having remastered them, than no one probably did, but look at all the Metal Mind reissues: Those were remastered albums, but no one was given credit for having done them. So, maybe someone knows something I don't...

Sirens and Dungeons were remastered several years ago for the Metal Blade reissues, so that may be why it is noted in the liners. I know they didn't remaster any of the others when SPV reissued them.

you're referring to the '94 MB remastered reissues of "Sirens" and "Dungeons", plus the 2002 SPV reissues of the rest of the catalog, which were not remastered. I'm aware of those. I do know "Sirens/Dungeons" was re-mastered again in 2010 for these Ear Music re-releases by a guy named Dave Whittman. I want to find out if the other 2011 reissues have been remastered as well. Some of them certainly sound like it, especially "Mountain King". It doesn't give any mention in the liner notes to that effect, which means nothing, as plenty of labels have reissued albums, remastered, but with no credit given. I would have 'wave analysed' them against the originals, but I don't have any of them.

Edit: I see that label recently reissued those albums. The one I have is on Aaarrg from 1994

No, over the last several weeks. so many labels have been doing "Grab bags" of vinyl that I went crazy because it works out so damn cheap. the Earache bags was the best score so far. Also picked up a bunch of used stuff while in Raleigh to see WIDOW and COLOSSUS this past weekend.
