I just got the Archaic Course and I would honestly have to recommend The Olden Domain over it.

Definitely get Archaic Course and Empiricism first, then the Olden Domain and Quintessence, then the self title. You really have to be used to Borknagar before you get the first album, it's more of an acquired taste.

No that depends, some people like the rawer more darker stuff on the first album as opposed to the lighter sounding empericism stuff...

If you like early ulver, emperor, satyricon, check out early borknagar.
