I know that encompasses about ten trillion different things, but I'd just like to try some new stuff.

Stuff I like already:

tons of the 70s classic rock

gothic stuff like Fields of the Nephilim.

anything dark (nick cave - murder ballads, alice cooper - welcome to my nightmare, etc)

grunge (and post grunge to some extent)

stoner rock (really not interested in any more of this atm though)

southern rock (molly hatchet, gov't mule, etc)

Stuff I really dislike:
anything overly punkish or indie rock

Anything you want to recommend is fine though, I'll give it a shot.

You better have these at least..sorry if they're a bit obvious.

(they weren't a stoner band but it sort of has that feel to me)

And yes, these are probably a little too obvious. I havent heard that The Doors album though... and I'm not the biggest beatles fan.

Here are some things that don't exactly match the genres you listed, but there's some overlap. Both are projects by singer/songwriter David Eugene Edwards.

Woven Hand

I was actually posting some 16 horsepower a while back myself. I never have checked out Woven Hand though.

Edit @ Einherjar
Have you ever checked out 16 hp's live album, Hoarse? It's insanely good and has some stuff that I didnt see on any of their other material.

Oh, awesome! Yeah, Woven Hand is great as well. Their album Mosaic (which has both the songs I posted) is my favorite. Really dark, gothic, sometimes tribal stuff.

I don't know if I can introduce you to 70's you haven't already heard, but:
Uriah Heep
(old) Pentagram
Elf (only if you really, really like RJD)
Pat Travers Band
Sweet
Sugarloaf

Goth:
Christian Death, which I'm sure you already like. How about Alien Sex Fiend?

Dark:
I know this sounds crazy, but have you heard Bruce Springsteen's album Nebraska? That's brooding and dark as it gets, especially for "Da Boss".

Grunge:
Mudhoney or Meat Puppets if you don't already listen to those bands

Southern rock:
Not big on it, but try Black Oak Arkansas.

I've seen it, but I've never listened to it. Thanks for the rec, I'll check it out.

Nebraska is amazing, and if you enjoy that look for The Ghost of Tom Joad as well.

Want to check all of these out. Not really interested in the 70s stuff atm, and if I check that giant list from that earlier post, I'll be beyond sick of the stuff..

Ha. thanks for this. I'm not really big on it, but the lady will love it.

lady will love it.

Finally getting around to checking out some of this stuff. So far, Atomic Rooser and Alien Sex Fiend have been pretty great.

I suppose I should edit the original post to include "glam rock" and post-rock as well.

and another edit, I believe I need to apologize to Fireroses Masquerade for kind of ignoring that post to begin with. Absolute fantastic stuff.

early Industrial like ministry (Land of Rape and Honey , The mind is a terrible thing to taste ). The Birthday Party (Nick Caves first band) , Neil Young's coke period (Zuma , Tonight's the Night , On the Beach) . Hawkwind with Lemmy .
