I only heard a few sound samples of BLACK STEEL, but WOLF are definitely awesome!

MALEDICTION too of course :p Killer live band by the way.

Where did you hear about Black Steel? I didn't know they were known overseas really... they're a pretty good band. I haven't seen them live though because they are from Perth and never come to the east coast.

Australia's metal scene (which seems mainly concentrated in Melbourne) doesn't get heard of overseas much but there's some good stuff so I thought I'd share with you. Generally though, most Australian metal is extreme metal which I'm not into. But bands like Blood Duster, Destroyer 666, Mortification, etc (all from Melbourne too) are pretty known overseas. But here are some of the bands I like or think you guys might like that play around here alot.

Pegazus (Melbourne) - Old school heavy metal. Well known in Europe.
Vanishing Point (Melbourne) - Melodic Metal, kind of a mix of Prog Metal & AOR.
The Deadthings (Melbourne) - LA style glam mixed with shock rock/horror.
Teargas (Melbourne) - Melodic Hard Rock, Dokken, Danger Danger, Bon Jovi mix.
Black Majesty (Melbourne) - Power Metal. These guys will be big in Europe soon.
Dungeon (Sydney) - Power Metal. Already big in Japan, will be big in Europe soon too.

Of course, my favourite old Autralian bands are:

AC/DC - Who are they? HAHA!
Roxus - Big keyboard soaked Melodic Hard Rock from late '80s/early '90s.
Candy Harlots - LA style sleaze/glam from early '90s. Sounded like Tuff.

Wanna hear something funny?. Here in Purgatory where I live we had one used CD store. As usual metal is low, and either is unlistenable crap, or stuff that you already have and some dimwit sold.
Anyway form time I drop by just to ensure my misery, but last Saturday I found this album "Destructor", the guys look normal, I heard it, I like it immediately and I bought it ($10.85). Then I discover that:

a) is made in Russia with a legend not to be sold outside Russia
b) Russian pressings are of very good quality :hypno: (sound and booklet)

Pegazus (Melbourne) - Old school heavy metal. Well known in Europe.
Indeed, great band by the way. I hadn't got their labums yet, but are among my eternal "one of these days list" :dopey: In "The Headless Horseman", they have a great, great song dedicated to Thin Lizzy called 'Ballad For A Thin Man', those guys earned all my respect with just that.

Pegazus kicks ass! Don't they have a new live album out?

My favorite Australian bands are Baby Animals and Radio Birdman. Exploding White Mice were ok also. :)

Yep they do, Live: Thunder From Downunder or something I think. The recorded it at the Central Club Hotel in Richmond (inner city suburb of Melbourne) which was actually the first club I ever saw them play years ago. It's a bit of a shame what's happened to Pegazus actually. They used to sell out the Cathouse here and play to packed houses, the last year or so though they have been playing every few weeks almost to 50 people at shitty pubs like the Barley Corn!

Their old singer Danny Cecati (who is on the Wings Of Steel and Breaking The Chains albums) joined my ex-girlfriend's brother's band Anarion after he left Pegazus for a little while, now he's in another local band called Eyefear who are a prog metal band, not my thing at all, but their album is being mixed in Europe by Andy LaRoque from King Diamond I think! Danny's voice is one of the best I have ever heard live... Unbelievable.

Rose Tattoo were another great Australian hard rock band from the old days! They are playing in Melbourne next week the night before KISS' first show actually.

Yeah Danny was a way better singer. I don't mind the new one either though and live his stage persona suits the band more I think.

Today I'll recommend the band HITMAN. Was listening to their album "Vivas Machina" this morning. :)

I was about to ask why the hell you missed RT from your first post! Good job :worship:

What about Men at Work?

I'll add SITHLORD to your list, great thrash!

De Mont were another good melodic rock type band from here back in the days in the vein of Europe. Oh and BB Steal who sound exactly like Hysteria-era Def Leppard haha.

Never heard this one, how is it compared to their first self titled album? Still well done early-Queensryche worship? :)
