Recording a cool new metal/hardcorish band! I'd appreciate some input!

I really like the guitar tone, that's definitely a good point.

I have to agree though, I don't like the drums, although the actual drums don't necessarily sound 'too bad' (I will comment on those in a bit), they just sound too fake, try humanising them a bit and try using some different samples because it becomes awfully repetitive quickly.

Nothing too much wrong with the snare, like the punchyness of it, but it's really lacking some of the actual sound of it i.e. the initial hit is there, but the body just goes to waste.

The kick is a bit too blippy. One of the problems with a lot of recordings today are that the drums tend to become what I like to call 'percussive blips' as opposed to actual drums.

To summarise what I'm saying, change the cymbals, try recording an actual kit and then just replace the kick and snare if you're looking for a polished finish anddddddddd get a new sample for the kick, something not so blippy, something with some low end weight.

Other than that, sounds good my friend. x

i like the guitars, also in agreement about the drums. sounds like the bass could come up a little too. also, i dont think this would be classified as metal/hardcore. definitely rock.

sorry i didnt elaborate on the drums. The snare has some vibration on it that is going through my head did you compress it alot? The cymbals are too loud and maybe change the kick. The guitars sound good though but a bit repetitive.

Fix the snare and maybe a little EQ so it stands out more, and those cymbals need to go. This is a cool song, barely metal but the guitars sound great!

hell yah man thanks a lot. The problem I have is that i have a really sweet mix but then I like throughing it into a mastering setup very quickly to give it some volume, compressor glue, eq, etc, and I lose the initial hard snare hit which usually sounds really good, as well as the click becomes "blipy". how can I fix that problem? I always run into it!

Yah really need to work on my kick and snare! hardest part for me! Does anyone have any Idea where I can geta better smaple. Im using a mix of slate samples and the superior 2.0 kick drum sample...

Lol at asking for a better sample. Work with what you have mate. Kick and snare the hardest part? Mute the overhead, room, and comp mix mics and leave the kick and snare going through only, with and without guitars. Make it sound killer on one setup and export it onto another whether that be headphones or your car. Don't forget to give dem ears a rest.
