I have been starting to record some of my ideas lately. But its not really to the sound I want, most of it is probably from the software I use, which is Audacity. And overdubbing a guitar riff is laggy so I cant do that. So Im going today to guitar center to get a software and a good mic for recording electric guitar.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to get? I hear the SM 57 is the best mic for the price.

For just recording ideas I use a line 6 UX2 with POD farm and Live. Works just fine on my 5-year-old computer. If you're worried about tone, I can give you samples. The tone won't be something you'd want to practice with all the time, but it's good enough.

My friend uses a program called Cubase, i think i spelled it right. But would you recommend that one?
