hey, i'm feeling kinda inspired to record some classical guitar, which i haven't done in about a couple of years. the last time i did, the sound was okay, but could've been better. so i'm wondering what would be the best way to record a classical guitar track?

A large diaphragm condenser like a C414 in cardioid should get you a long way. I love LDCs on acoustic guitars, rarely use SDCs

I'm a classical guitarist. I've had best results with a 414 as well as a schoepps mic. I forget the model I should know by tomorrow as I'm coincidentally recording a guitar trio.

Try a XY
It can sound more interesting than a mono mic (left and right hand divided in the speakers), especially when the classical guitar is the main part, and not only a part of a song.

this but with ORTF. I fucking love ORTF on acoustic guitars (if they are the main, single instrument though)

many thanks for the advice. i actually already have a good mic; i was really wondering more about stuff like mic positions or recording environments and stuff, or even what mic stand i should be using (i'll admit i don't really have a legit mic stand, just a little desktop tripod-type unit with the clamp-thingy unscrewed).
