Recording guitars.

hey joey, when you record a band, what is the method you use to record their guitars? i would always think engineers mac the players cab and record that, but i've seen in your, and other studio updates, the player is in the same room as you, and other noises aren't picked up. is the cab in another room? or are they plugged right in or what? this fascinates me. thanks man.

Joey uses a program called 'pod farm' (found here: http://line6.com/podfarm/ )


Everything thing that is to do with the guitar is on the computer (except the actual playing of it )

^Just as a footnote, Joey's actually using PODfarm Platiunum, as this has some amp models that are better for metal compared to the stock amps in POD farm.

so they just go through a preamp into his computer? and he adjusts all the sounds and junk from there, on this PODfarm deal. sounds interesting, it must obviously work extremely well for the amazing sound he gets from it. (or he is just awesome at it.)

do the bands go through anything else before the preamp? like pedals or anything?
